Another Homespun Layout for Let's Get Sketchy!

Well hello again everyone!!!  It's been a very busy month with school back in session!!!  So I just have a quick post today :-)

Here's a look at this week's sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy:

I pulled out the Simple Stories "Homespun" Collection earlier this month and have just been playing with it ever since!!
Here's my page:

I'm such a fan of the colors and patterns in the Simple Stories lines...  They're just amazing!!!
I used the colored wood background paper and tried to keep it pretty simple from there!  They beautiful piece already has enough to look at without adding too much!  I layered a couple of other pieces, following the sketch and inking the edges along the way!  I finished the page with a wooden veneer from Michaels that was misted and coated with crackle paint in Rock Candy!

I added a doily from my stash and one of the overlays in the collection.  I did some fussy cutting of other pieces as well to finish the layout!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

**Thrilled** to be Guest Designer at Scrap Around the World!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello friends!!!  I am here today with some very exciting news....  I was asked to be Guest Designer over at Scrap Around the World this month!!!!!!  Can you believe it?!?  I am still in disbelief!  Hahahaha!!!!

"Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful" with Authentique "Flourish" Collection
I was asked to create something fabulous (of course!) using the following moodboard:

Like all of their moodboards, this is absolutely amazing!!!  I love the colors, the pop of gold,  the stems/posts in the shoes, and well, everything!

So without further ado, here is my page:

This is an older picture of my daughter taken a few years back.  She was so perfectly posed for the pictures!!!
To start my page, I grabbed a pice of white Bazzil cardstock and started to "build my page".  I used various gelatos, stencils with molding paste, mists, sprays, stamps, etc.  I wanted to mimic the stems/posts in the shoes shown in the inspiration photo, so I tried (my hardest) to make semi-straight lines across the page with my gelatos.  I used a bit of water to get them to blend a bit better. After everything dried, I went to work embellishing!  I added strips of paper (also to mimic the "lines") across the page, simply tearing them as I went along.

I used a gold and pink gelato to color my chipboard pieces from 2 Crafty Chipboard (Thank you SATW and 2 Crafty for my fabulous prize!!!).  I also added some liquid pearls around them for accents!  I used various flowers from my stash to add detail around my photograph.  The resin pieces are from this month's kit over at Frosted Designs and went beautifully with this page!

I finished the page with a title chipboard piece which was coated with gesso, then colored with the pink and gold gelatos, and misted with Lindy's starburst sprays!

Well gang... Thanks soooo much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Beautiful Day with Heidi Swapp and Sketch N Scrap!!!

Hola mi amigos (y amigas!!!).  Just popping in with our second card sketch of the month over at Sketch N Scrap!

Here's a look at this wonderful sketch by our very own Lisa Hidy:

Love it!!!!!  I used the "Hello Today" collection by Heidi Swapp from the Frosted Designs Store to create this card:

Isn't this card adorable?!?!  I just love the sketch and the colors on the card!!
I started with a kraft base and layered up my papers, inking them all along the way with Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  I fussy cut the stars from the pattern paper in the collection, inked the edges, then added pop-dots behind them for dimension!  I even topped them off with liquid pearls for added detail!

I finished the card with a small card I cut from the stack with a couple of more liquid pearls for accents!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

New Design Team Announcement and Saying Goodbye to Another!!!

Hello everyone and Happy Friday!!!!  It has been one crazy week weather wise here in the Sunshine State... With very little sun and a whole lot of thunder and lightning... Yikes!!!

I have a couple of announcements to make today:
First, I am saying goodbye to the ladies over at Color Me Scrappy!  It has been a fun ride, but all good things must come to an end!  Thank you Tammy for having me... I truly appreciate my time there!!!

Now, when one door shuts, another one opens!!!  I was recently advised that I am on the new Design Team at Creative Embellishments!!!!!

Seriously.... I am honored to be part of such an AMAZING team filled with such wonderful talent (I think I need to step up my game)!!!!  Hahahahaha!!!!!  My term starts in October but you always see some their beautiful chipboard pieces on my projects so nothing is going to change there!!!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Brand New "Chevron" Challenge at Frosted Designs!!!

Well hey there neighbors!!!  I'm popping in to let you know about a wonderful new challenge posted at Frosted Designs!!!  All you have to do is add chevrons to your project... THAT'S IT!!!!!  How hard can that be?!?!?

So after contemplating what I wanted to make, I finally came to the conclusion that I would make a card for my daughter's new teacher!  I always make a card for the first day of school so I went to work :-)

Here's a look:

I used this month's Summer's End kit to create this adorable card!!!

I started with a Kraft base and layered up some papers from the kit, inking the edges with Frayed Burlap distress ink.  I added a pocket about half the size of the card to hold one of the wooden pieces included in the kit!  I grabbed my Heidi Swapp Chevron Stencil and my Frayed Burlap Distress Marker to create the pattern on the pocket :-)

I used a couple of flowers and one of the wooden leaves, that was colored with the same marker and coated with Lindy's Stamp Gang Beige magical for shimmer!

I just love this beautiful wood piece and knew I wanted it as part of this card!  I strung some white ribbon through the top and used my marker to go around the very outer edge!

Isn't it wonderful?!?  Easy peasy!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Mid Month Challenge at Color Me Scrappy and Colorful Creations!!!

Hi there everyone!!!  I told you it was going to be a busy month for me!!!!  As you can see by my posts (with many more to come!) that I was not exaggerating!!!  Hahahaha!!!!!

I have a couple of things to share with you today:
We have a brand new color combo challenge posted at Color Me Scrappy!

I am very happy with this color combo!!!  I love the beautiful hues :-)  We had to combine these colors with something "summer" related so I decided to scrap a photo of my oldest daughter taken at our local aquarium a few years back!

Today is also a brand new sketch challenge over at Colorful Creations!
Here is a look at the sketch:

Oh, I just love this sketch!!!  And here is my page:

Yes, I know you are so sick of this collection but I just can't help myself!!!  Every time I take it back out, I just keep playing with it!  And there's still some left over!!  Hahahaha!!!
I started my page by creating a sunburst mask with some chipboard and my craft knife!  I laid it on a white piece of cardstock, then colored in the open areas with a yellow and gold gelato.  I dipped a paint brush in some water to blend the colors!

Then, I layered up some other papers from the collection, and a piece of Kraft Core cardstock by Coordinations (seriously, my fav!!!).  I fussy cut some elements from the collection and added them around the page as well as the letter stickers for my title and sub-title!

I finished the page with some beautiful chipboard from Creative Embellishments (that was treated with gesso and snow cone gelato) and various flowers!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Homespun Happiness with Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Hello friends!!!  I hope you're having a great start to your month!!  I bet most of you are just as excited as I am for the school session to start again!!! Hahahahaha!!!!

Any who... I'm here today with a brand new sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy!  This one was created by our very own Laura Whitaker!
Here's a look at the sketch:

Oh, I love this sketch!!!!  I pulled out my Homespun Collection from Simple Stories to create a simple, yet pretty layout!
Here's my page:

This is my youngest daughter taken earlier this year!
I started with Black Bazzil cardstock as my base and added white splatters using white Dylusions mist.

I added strips of paper from the collection and tucked them behind my photo.  I also used some chipboard circles from 2 Crafty Chipboard that were treated with gesso, various gelatos, and liquid pearls!

For the title, I coated my chipboard with gesso, then added snowcone gelato in an ombre effect!

My last piece of chipboard is this flourish that was also coated with gesso, then I added yellow and gold gelatos for color, and misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst spray for shine!

Well gang... Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Handmade Masculine Card with New "Inspired By" Sketch at Sketch N Scrap!

Hello again crafty friends!!!  We have a fabulous new sketch up over at Sketch N Scrap!  This is our mid-month "Inspired By" sketch which is inspired by an original page, then given to us (And you!) to scrap!

I decided to do a get well card for a close family friend!  He's been under the weather and I am hoping to bring a smile to his face upon receiving this in the mail :-)

Any who... Here's a look at the sketch:

I tend to always fall back on Tim Holtz products for ALL my masculine cards and pages (it helps that I am completely obsessed with all his products anyway!!!).  So I started with a Kraft base and went to work!

I inked all my paper and ephemera edges with Walnut Stain distress ink.  I grabbed some Creative Embellishments chipboard from my stash and inked it up as well, then added a heavy coat of rock candy crackle paint.

I used Vintage Photo distress stain to color my grungeboard hinges, then added several brads for detail.

Finally, I printed the sentiment from my computer using a font I downloaded called "bad grunge" (one of my favs!).

And there you have it!!!  Another creation made fabulous by the amazing Tim Holtz (and a little bit of myself!!!!).

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)
