CSI Case File 162 for Creative Embellishments!!!!!

Hello fellow crafters!!  Brandi here again with another layout created as guest designers from Creative Embellishments for CSI this month!  Here's a look at the case:

And here is my take (all evidence and testimony is in red):

This is a picture of the hubs and I on our one year wedding anniversary :-)  I used the Simple Stories "Homespun" collection which matched the scene perfectly!!!

I started with a textured solid white cardstock base and lightly splattered black distress ink across the page.  I used a circle stencil from the Crafters Workshop and distress markers to add circles in random areas.

I mixed some molding paste with Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink in "Butterscotch" until I achieved my desired yellow color, I used the paste mixture over a Tim Holtz Sunburst layering stencil to the left of my photo!

I outlined all my papers with a thin black sharpie (one of my favorite techniques) to help the colors stand out against the all white background.  I used the Circle Bokeh Stamp and Versa Ink to clear emboss the pattern on my chipboard photo frame from the Together Frame Set. After heated, I used Ranger distress ink, Lindy's Flat Black Tornado, and Black Soot distress ink to color the piece. I dried it, then misted with homemade glimmer mist (made from water and perfect pearls) for some  shimmer :-)

I used the same black ink to color the "Love" title from the Everlasting Love title set (the smaller one) and various sticker letters from the collection to make my title (inspired by the "space" theme).

I did my journaling in the "Q&A" format :-)

I finished the page with some flowers by Prima and Petaloo, stickers, and die-cuts from the collection!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Moments and Memories with Sketch N Scrap!

Hello everyone!!!! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend thus far :-)

I'm popping in today to share a wonderful new sketch over at Sketch N Scrap!
Here's a look at card sketch #34:

I used this month's kit from Frosted Designs to create this card:

I absolutely LOVE the colors in this kit!!!  They go beautifully together :-)
I started my card by layering up some of the papers in the kit, adding ink and distressing along the way!  I grabbed a Creative Embellishments chipboard window from my stash and altered it with inks, mists, and crackle paint (my new favorite medium!).

I wanted to add the beautiful wood piece included in the kit as well and decided to color it with Lindy's Stamp gang mists and some Luminarte Paints from my stash.  I topped it off with some liquid pearls for added accents :-)

I finished the card with some stickers from the kit and one of the wooden butterflies, which was colored with black and white dylusions sprays!

Well gang... Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Mid Month Challenge at Color Me Scrappy!!!!

Hello again everyone!!!  Yes, this is my second post of the day because it's also time for the mid-month challenge over at Color Me Scrappy!!!!

This week's challenge is to use the following color scheme AND floral pattern paper on your project!  Here's a look at the colors:

I decided to make a card for this challenge using an old Basic Grey line that went well with the colors!!
Here's my card:

I was very challenged with this color combo but am actually very happy with how this card came out!!!!
I started by adding several layers of various papers atop my Kraft cardstock for my base.  I added a little liquid pearls for some accents.

I embossed some chipboard I cut up from Creative Embellishments using Tim Holtz distress powder.

I stamped my sentiment from Stampers Anonymous onto a chipboard post card included in this collection!

I finished the card with a couple of flowers and a brad for detail!!!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Altered Box ~ "Love is..." Mini-Series: Part 3!!!

Hello again my crafty friends!!!  I hope you've had a wonderful month of "love" filled with tons of inspiration from our very talented Design Team here at Frosted Designs!!!! I cannot express how excited I am to be part of such a wonderful (and AMAZING!) team!!!

Altered Box using Pink Paislee "Colorwash" Collection
As promised, I am here today to share the last part of my "Love is..." project!!! If you missed one or some of the previous posts, don't worry!!!  I'll be sure to share it all with you today :-)

Earlier in the month, Channa, from Frosted Designs, hosted an amazing challenge called "Love is...".  The challenge was was to create something showing what love means to you, and use the following color combo:

Isn't it gorgeous?!?  Well I loved the challenge so much that I created several projects to showcase the colors, and what love means to me :-)

Here's a look back at the two previous projects:
First a card...

And my "hidden" pocket with a tag that quotes:
"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own"
Robert Heinlein

Then an altered Altoid can with mini photo book:

And my last project?!?  Well I had to have something to put all this wonderfull-ness in... right?!?
So I created an altered box using the same papers and embellies from before.
Here's a look:

I had so much fun playing with these papers and colors!!!  I used a box about 6x6 in size so the papers were perfect!!!
I started by coating my box with a thin layer of gesso, mixed with Lindy's Stamp Gand magicals in Cotton Candy Pink.  These pigment powder paints are fabulous for adding color to your medium, or even water!! After using mod-podge (matte) to layer on the paper, I got to work embellishing!
I started by using the heart stencil in the January kit and molding paste mixed with the same Magicals and Rock Candy distress glitter to create the design around the box.  I used some washi tape to cover half of the heart, and just used the other half, flipping it every other time.  I did this around the top of the lid and the bottom of the box as well.
Here's a close-up of the molding paste with the color and glitter:

After the design dried, I added various flowers from Kaisercraft, Prima, and others from my stash to the top of the box.  I misted some with LSG and Dylusions sprays to get my desired colors.
I also made my own bling using liquid pearls, acetate, and a template and tucked it beneath one of the flower clusters.

I used other trim coated with LSG Cotton Candy Pink to wrap around the entire box lid.

I finished it with the sheer pink ribbon from the January kit and created a bow.  I adhered it to the front of the box, adding a small rhinestone flower to the center.

I hope you have enjoyed my little "mini-series"!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Mixed Media Canvas for the "Love" Challenge at Colorful Creations!!!

Hello again everyone!!!  I hope you had a fabulous Valentine's Day!!!!

Speaking of Valentine's day, there is a new "LOVE" challenge up at Colorful Creations!!!! The challenge is super simple...  Just incorporate the word "Love" into your project and you're in it to win it!!!

Mixed Media Canvas using the January Kit from Frosted Designs
I decided on making a mixed media/altered canvas for the challenge (my first ever!!!).  I used the "Love is in the Air" January Kit from Frosted Designs which included the Teresa Collins "You Are My Happy" collection.  Here's a look at the finished piece:

I really wanted to incorporate love and nothing says that better than a whole lot of PINK!!! Hahahaha!!!!

I started by adding a coat of gesso over my canvas and let it dry.  Then I sprayed Dylusions "Bubble Gum" mist all over for color.  I added gold gelato around the edges and worked it in really well with a water brush.

I used the Heidi Swapp honeycomb stencil and molding paste mixed with the gold gelato to add some texture to the background.  I also added the pink bling from the kit to random parts of the design!

I used my heart punch and papers from the kit to create a small banner at the top of the canvas:

I just love the chevron wood veneers by UmWow studios (also from the Frosted Designs Store).  I added some gesso colored with the mist and topped them off with Rock Candy distress glitter.

I finished the canvas with the beautiful burlap heart in the kit.  It's really a gorgeous piece!!!  I put some of the Petaloo flowers on the top and sides, and added Maya Road resin flowers around the entire canvas for detail.

I just love the way this whole piece came together!!!  I will certainly be doing another one soon!!!!

I am also sharing this with Crafty Creations, where you can upload your most recent paper craft projects, at The Memory Nest!

New Challenge at Frosted Designs with Pink Paislee!!!!

Happy Valentine' Day again my friends!!! There's a brand new challenge up at Frosted Designs that is all about love!!!!

"You are my Heart" with Pink Paislee "Colorwash" Collection
The challenge this time around is to show what love means to you.  The challenge itself is actually called "Love is...".  I chose to make a card and include a quote that expresses what love means to me!!!
Here's a look at the card:

I really like how this came out!!!  I don't usually work with such pale colors but it actually came out pretty nicely!!!  I just layered several pieces of pattern paper from the collection, inking the edges of each with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I finished by stamping the sentiment and adding flowers by Kaisercraft.

I added a hidden pocket with a tag on the inside.  The quote says:
"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own"
