Last Reveal for Let's Get Sketchy with 7 Dots Illumination Collection!!!

Hello fellow crafters and happy Monday!  It's a bitter sweet day for me today as I say goodbye to the wonderful ladies over at Let's Get Sketchy!  As much as I love working on the team, my life has become quite a bit hectic with my invitation business in full swing!

So without further ado, here is this week's sketch:

I also combined this sketch with Scrap Around the World's FAB-U-LOUS moodboard for the month of September:

I knew as soon as I saw this board that I wanted to scrap my wedding pics of myself!  My wedding was everything I could've asked for and more and to marry my best friend was (and is still) a fairy tale come true!!!  He is truly my soul mate :-)

I won't get all mushy here on you guys so here is my take on the sketch and board:

I was inspired by the overall "fairy tale" theme of the board and of course incorporated that into my layout in various places.  Also the colors, especially the pinks, greys, and blacks!  The heart box with cogs reminded me of a clock so I added a large clock die-cut in the background and colored it to match the hues on my page!

I started my page by adding my background using a layering stencil with some molding paste.  Once dried, I used my finger and rubbed various gelatos over top to add some color.  I also flicked some Lindy's Stamp Gang mist for added detail and some shimmer :-)  I found some shipboard squares in my stash and decided to add them to my page as well!  They were colored with Maya Road white mist, gelatos, and mist.

I LOVE Creative Embellishments chipboard and had to add some to my page!  My title and circle panel were coated with gesso, then colored with various inks and/or gelatos, then misted with clear shimmer spray for some shine!  I also added a resin fairy from last month's kit over at Frosted Designs to tie in the overall theme!

I knew I had to have a healthy portion of flowers on my layout so I made a cluster in between the pics, adding more resin pieces along the way!  I used some liquid pearls for added accents in areas around the page!

I finished the page with some letter stickers and bling!!!

Well gang... Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Another Homespun Layout for Let's Get Sketchy!

Well hello again everyone!!!  It's been a very busy month with school back in session!!!  So I just have a quick post today :-)

Here's a look at this week's sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy:

I pulled out the Simple Stories "Homespun" Collection earlier this month and have just been playing with it ever since!!
Here's my page:

I'm such a fan of the colors and patterns in the Simple Stories lines...  They're just amazing!!!
I used the colored wood background paper and tried to keep it pretty simple from there!  They beautiful piece already has enough to look at without adding too much!  I layered a couple of other pieces, following the sketch and inking the edges along the way!  I finished the page with a wooden veneer from Michaels that was misted and coated with crackle paint in Rock Candy!

I added a doily from my stash and one of the overlays in the collection.  I did some fussy cutting of other pieces as well to finish the layout!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Homespun Happiness with Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Hello friends!!!  I hope you're having a great start to your month!!  I bet most of you are just as excited as I am for the school session to start again!!! Hahahahaha!!!!

Any who... I'm here today with a brand new sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy!  This one was created by our very own Laura Whitaker!
Here's a look at the sketch:

Oh, I love this sketch!!!!  I pulled out my Homespun Collection from Simple Stories to create a simple, yet pretty layout!
Here's my page:

This is my youngest daughter taken earlier this year!
I started with Black Bazzil cardstock as my base and added white splatters using white Dylusions mist.

I added strips of paper from the collection and tucked them behind my photo.  I also used some chipboard circles from 2 Crafty Chipboard that were treated with gesso, various gelatos, and liquid pearls!

For the title, I coated my chipboard with gesso, then added snowcone gelato in an ombre effect!

My last piece of chipboard is this flourish that was also coated with gesso, then I added yellow and gold gelatos for color, and misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst spray for shine!

Well gang... Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

New Sketch Challenge at Let's Get Sketchy with 7 Dots Studio Illumination!!!

Well hello there everyone!!!  Hope you're having a fabulous start to your week so far :-)

"Freedom to be Beautiful" with 7 Dots Studio "Illumination"
It's time for another wonderful sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy!
Here's a look:

I have always been a HUGE fan of Tabitha's sketches!!!  I don't know why but they really get my creativity flowing!!!
Any who, here's a look at my page:

Isn't my daughter so lovely?!?  And soooo photogenic!
I purchased this 7 Dots Studio "Illumination" Collection months ago from the Frosted Designs Store and have had very little time to actually play with it!  I was excited to break it out and put it to use!
I started by choosing my papers, then putting them down with adhesive and outlining them with gesso (I actually "stole" this technique from Hera Sugitani, the Guest Designer over at Scrap Around the World this month!  You can check out her page here).  After seeing her tutorial, I knew I had to give this a try!  Being relatively "new" to this hobby, I like to try new (and old but new to me) things ALL the time!!!!!!!  I also used some white mist by Dylusions to create splatter on my background, then added liquid pearls in several colors for accents!

I grabbed some Tim Holtz rub-ons from the "Enchanted" kit at Frosted Designs and added them all around my page!  I probably could have used an entire sheet... I just got carried away!!!!!  For my title, I used some sticker letters and chipboard from Creative Embellishments that was treated with a coat of gesso and a blue gelato.

I finished the page with some flowers by Prima and Petaloo, along with gesso-coated die-cuts!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Reveal for Week 2 Sketch Challenge at Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Hello there crafters!!!  I hope you are having fabulous weather in this hot July we are having!!!

I'm here today with an amazing new sketch challenge over at Let's Get Sketchy!
Here's a look at this weeks' sketch:

And here is my page:

This is my first attempt as using a large die-cut in my background so I had quite a time!
I used a cut file from A Cutt Above the Rest for my background die-cut, then inked it with a number of different distress inks and misted it with black Dylusions mist!  After it was dry I matted it with smooth white cardstock.

I added my photo (this is my oldest daughter on a cruise we took last year! This giant octopus sculpture is on the ship!  I made a flower cluster to the corner of my pic with machine cut die-cuts and hemp cord!

I knew I wanted to use the "Summertime" title from Creative Embellishments for this page.  I applied a thin coat of gesso atop of it,  a small amount of molding paste for texture, then added Spiced Marmalade Distress Stain.  Once dried, I applied Smooch Accent ink in Sundance for some shimmer!

Here's another close-up of the texture and mixture of mediums :-)

Well gang..  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Week 4 sketch at LGS!!!

Hello everyone!!!  Just a quick post today for the fabulous new sketch up at Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Here's a look at this week's sketch:

I just had to use these yummy Paper House Productions products we received to create my page:

These paper are definitely "out of my comfort zone" but I am happy with the finished product!
The first thing I decided to do was add thread around the page much like a "starburst" effect...  LOVE IT!!!!!

Then, I added on my papers according to the sketch, inking the edges along the way.   I used a white uni-ball pen from the Frosted Designs Store to create faux stitching around one of the papers!

I finished the page with the fabulous 3D embellishments...  Aren't they adorable?!?!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for popping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

LGS with Prima's Time Traveler Collection!!!!

Hey there fellow crafters!!!  School is officially out here in Florida and summer is well under way!

I'm popping in today to share the new weekly sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy!  Here's a look:

LOVE this sketch!!!!  And, of course, I had to use the goodies from this month's "Capture the Moment" kit over at Frosted Designs! It's packed full of Prima products, including the new Time Traveler collection, as well as Cartographer, and Stationer's Desk too!  Just look at how beautiful these papers and embellies are!!!

From This Moment with Prima's Time Traveler Collection

I am truly having so much fun playing with all these Prima goodies!!!  It's like heaven over here!!!
I started my page by building up my background with molding paste and gelatos.

After blending the gelatos with a baby wipe, I did some random stamping using various stamps and a Faber Castell Big Brush Pen.

I found this chipboard postage stamp piece in my stash and decided to give it a treatment of Lindy's Starburst Pearls and the Perfect Pearls Spray included in this month's kit.

I gave the same treatment to one of the white Petaloo flowers, also in the FD store!

I ordered this bird cage template from the store and thought it perfect for this page!!!  I used some Walnut Stain distress ink and the liquid pearls from the kit to create this look.

The Prima trim in the kit is fabulous and goes with pretty much any style of crafting!!!  I used it to add a cute little bow around my picture!!!  I also added more flowers and wood icon pieces!

I finished the page with a chipboard title from Creative Embellishments (LOVE their chipboard!!!!).  I first sprayed it with the inks mentioned above, then heat embossed random areas with Distress Powder in black.

This is a very special page and will definitely go in our wedding album (one of them!!!).

Well gang...  Thanks soooo much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

I also combined this sketch with the May Mood Board over at Scrap Around The World!  They have an amazing challenge lined up with tons of fabulous prizes!!!  I was inspired by the beautiful colors, patterns, and balloons!!!

I know you are all so sick of seeing this collection, but I promise, it's almost all used up!!!  Hahaha!!!
Here's my page:

I've used the Simple Stories "Homespun" Collection from the Frosted Designs Store, yet again!  I just love the bright, bold colors!!  It's right up my crafting alley :-)

I wanted to keep this page pretty clean, so I used white Bazzil cardstock as my base, matted on Kraft Core cardstock by Tim Holtz (LOVE these papers!!!!).  I added some simple stencil work with the Heidi Swapp "Chevron Stencil" masked with a circle stencil on top.  I used black distress ink for color!

Teh, I cut out these adorable photos of my youngest daughter taken when she was only six months old!!  Oh, how I miss those days :-)

I used my Cricut Explore to create a stencil for balloons, then mixed molding paste with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals and alcohol inks for my desired colors!  After that was dry, I applied some Faber Castell Glaze mixed with fine, gold glitter for shine!

And I used red and white twine as my "strings!

I finished my page with some additional twine, and DIY Thickers with red and gold glitter for my title!
