Reveal for Week 2 Sketch Challenge at Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Hello there crafters!!!  I hope you are having fabulous weather in this hot July we are having!!!

I'm here today with an amazing new sketch challenge over at Let's Get Sketchy!
Here's a look at this weeks' sketch:

And here is my page:

This is my first attempt as using a large die-cut in my background so I had quite a time!
I used a cut file from A Cutt Above the Rest for my background die-cut, then inked it with a number of different distress inks and misted it with black Dylusions mist!  After it was dry I matted it with smooth white cardstock.

I added my photo (this is my oldest daughter on a cruise we took last year! This giant octopus sculpture is on the ship!  I made a flower cluster to the corner of my pic with machine cut die-cuts and hemp cord!

I knew I wanted to use the "Summertime" title from Creative Embellishments for this page.  I applied a thin coat of gesso atop of it,  a small amount of molding paste for texture, then added Spiced Marmalade Distress Stain.  Once dried, I applied Smooch Accent ink in Sundance for some shimmer!

Here's another close-up of the texture and mixture of mediums :-)

Well gang..  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Week 4 sketch at LGS!!!

Hello everyone!!!  Just a quick post today for the fabulous new sketch up at Let's Get Sketchy!!!

Here's a look at this week's sketch:

I just had to use these yummy Paper House Productions products we received to create my page:

These paper are definitely "out of my comfort zone" but I am happy with the finished product!
The first thing I decided to do was add thread around the page much like a "starburst" effect...  LOVE IT!!!!!

Then, I added on my papers according to the sketch, inking the edges along the way.   I used a white uni-ball pen from the Frosted Designs Store to create faux stitching around one of the papers!

I finished the page with the fabulous 3D embellishments...  Aren't they adorable?!?!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for popping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

SNS "Inspired By" layout with Heidi Swapp!!!

Only a couple of more days left to get in those entries for a chance to win a $20.00 Gift Certificate to the Frosted Designs Store!!!!  What are you waiting for?!?  Click here for details!!!!

Hello all!!!  I have another quick layout to share that I created for the "Inspired By" sketch over at Sketch N Scrap!  One of the fabulous designers creates a sketch based on a layout submitted by the DT or a member, then we create a layout based on that sketch!!!  LOVE IT!!!!

Any who...  Here's a look at the wonderful sketch:

I combined this challenge with the June Challenge over at Creative Embellishments which is to create a project using the following photo for inspiration:

I LOVE the beach scene and was inspired by the colors in the picture, the cliffs and rocks, as well as the beach itself!!! I decided to do another page for my Father's vacation album using the Heidi Swapp "Travel" collection and a picture of me and my father taken in Jamaica!  The photo alone was PERFECT for the inspiration pic as we are standing near a cliff with the rocks behind us, and the ocean in the background!!!!  Here's a look:

I might be getting older, but the fact that I'm a daddy's girl will never change!!!
I kept the page pretty simple and followed the sketch quite literally, only turning it upside down to appease my "style"!  I created the base by cutting the two background papers , then adding liquid pearls for some pizazz!

I added some flowers by Petaloo and chipboard from the Creative Embellishments Store (LOVE all of their products!!!!) which was stamped, embossed, misted, and inked!

I fussy cut some elements from the paper collection and added them around the page, adding more liquid pearls to accent the page!

I finished my page with the letters from the paper pad, which were inked using Prima's Knotted Wood ink.

And there you have it!!! I have completed a whole six pages in my father's album... Only 14 more to go!!!!!  That should only take a couple more months!!  Hahahaha!!!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Brand New Sketch and Design Team Announcement!!!!

Hello to all my fellow crafters out there!!!!  I come to you today with some very exciting news!!!

If any of you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that I LOVE working with sketches!!!  I have been playing along over at Let's Get Sketchy for quite some time now, and was recently offered a Design Team Position!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my very FIRST sketch as a DT member and I cannot tell you how excited I am to work with these AMAZING, and VERY talented, ladies!!!!
Any who, here is this week's sketch:

Most of you also know that I am working on a Vacation Scrapbook Album for my father so you will be seeing quite a bit of these photos and the Heidi Swapp Travel Themed Paper Collection!!!!
Here's the next page in the book:

These pictures were taken at the port in Ochos Rios and at a quick stop at a local eatery!

I absolutely LOVED this sketch!!!!  I just might use it again very soon :-)
As this album is a gift, and I am trying to keep the costs down, I have decided to make use of all the elements in the collection that can be fussy cut to embellish your pages!  It was one of my main deciding factors on purchasing this collection in the first place!

I kept the page pretty simple and followed the sketch quite literally!  I used textured white cardstock as my background and added a few drops of Black Dylusions ink to the top and bottom.

I used Faded Jeans Distress Ink to distress the edges of the papers and add some contrast to the background!  The stars were fussy cut from the paper pad and some were adhered using pop-dots.

I added some final touches with Liquid Pearls, which are always sure to dress up your page, without costing a fortune!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)
